2012 Awards Announced!

The University of Advancing Technology is proud to congratulate filmmaker Gwyneth Christoffel and her film "Recipe for Love" as the inaugural winner of the Grand Prize at the UAT Digital Video Festival! The Grand Prize comes with a full tuition scholarship to study at the award-winning Digital Video Program at  UAT, and we look forward to having this talented young filmmaker join us when she completes high school!

Furthemore, Gwyneth's film "Recipe for Love" also won the Audience Award, which was decided by a poll of both our in-theatre and online audiences. "Recipe for Love" was the clear favorite among our viewers! The Audience Award comes with a custom-designed trophy which itself was the result of a student contest. 3D Modeling students at the University of Advancing Technology competed for a $1,000 scholarship prize and the bragging rights to having designed the DV Festival's inaugural trophy. Student Mario Castaneda won the design competition for this entry, a sleek, sci-fi inspired icon that sums up both the film roots of the DV Program and its technology-infused future. The trophy will be printed using UAT's 3D rapid protoyper, and painted with a metallic finish by our resident prop-making expert Professor Paul DeNigris. This will be a truly one-of-a-kind piece!

Our Mission Statement

The UAT Digital Video Festival was founded by the faculty of the Digital Video Program at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona, out of a desire to foster creative dialogue and competition among student digital filmmakers at UAT and at schools and institutions worldwide. With a focus on innovation in the use of digital technologies to tell stories, the UAT DV Festival seeks short film submissions (15 minutes and under) from middle school, high school, and undergraduate college students working in the following genres: Science Fiction and Fantasy; Fan Film; Science and Technology; Animation; and Visual Effects. Professional filmmakers who are working on the cutting-edge of digital filmmaking will also be encouraged to submit their works under our "Innovator" category.

Selected films will be screened on our campus in Tempe, Arizona, during our annual Tech Forum event in November. Screenings and Q&A's will also be streamed live - so filmmakers and film lovers from every corner of the globe may participate even if unable to travel to Arizona. Participating filmmakers will be web-conferenced into the event for Q&A with our audience.

First Prize for Student Filmmakers: UAT Digital Video Scholarship
A full-tuition scholarship to attend the University of Advancing Technology Digital Video Program will be awarded to one deserving student filmmaker each year, or may be split equally by up to four members of the winning team.
