2014 Official Selections!

This year's Official Selections:

Films designated as "In Competition" are competing for the Grand Prize, a full-tuition scholarship to University of Advancing Technology's award-winning Digital Video Program. Films that are "Out of Competition" aren't eligible for the Grand Prize but are still eligible for our Audience Award.

Our 3rd Annual UAT Digital Video Festival will take place on our campus in Tempe, Arizona, during the first week of November, coinciding with our annual "Technology Forum." The screening date is still TBD.

UAT DV Festival is Tonight!

The inaugural edition of the University of Advancing Technology Digital Video Festival is tonight at 6pm in the UAT Theatre (2625 W. Baseline Road, Tempe AZ 85283).

If you're unable to attend in person, the event will be STREAMED LIVE! The streaming link will be posted here as well as on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/uatdvfestival, and you will also be able to vote for our AUDIENCE AWARD on Facebook as well!

Get ready for the most action-packed, special-effects filled short film yet to hit the big screen. 'CardBoard of Duty' takes you into the world of video games... and the world of Hacking! Join two players as they use every code they know to beat each other!

"Recipe for Love" (3 minutes, Canada)
directed by Gwyneth Christoffel 
A lonely cupcake sees other couples in the kitchen enjoying each others company, and decides that she needs a friend. With no other options, she chooses to make one for herself!

Official Selections Announced!

It is our pleasure to announce the initial slate of films for our upcoming inaugural edition of the University of Advancing Technology Digital Video Festival!

"CardBoard of Duty" (7 minutes, USA)
directed by DJ Charewicz
Get ready for the most action-packed, special-effects filled short film yet to hit the big screen. 'CardBoard of Duty' takes you into the world of video games... and the world of Hacking! Join two players as they use every code they know to beat each other! It All Ends Here

 "ROTFL" (5 minutes, USA)
directed by Tara-Nicole Azarian
Electronic communication is both a blessing and a curse. According to the CDC, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year. For every suicide, there are at least 100 attempts.

"Recipe for Love" (3 minutes, Canada)
directed by Gwyneth Christoffel 
A lonely cupcake sees other couples in the kitchen enjoying each others company, and decides that she needs a friend. With no other options, she chooses to make one. She encounters a number of challenges in her work, but manages to overcome them with innovation and style. The result is a 'happily ever after' ending. 

"Still Falls the Rain" (7 minutes, UK)
directed by Miguel  Santana
Set against the backdrop of war-torn 1940s London, Stanley (Ben Walker, the Golden Compass), a homeless boy, discovers how far he must go to survive in a hostile world. But just how far will he go? After getting caught by a merciless Police Officer stealing food from a bombed house - in a time when looting could mean the death penalty, Stanley is forced to make a gut wrenching decision that will affect the rest of his life.

Additional films, selected from the UAT Digital Video Program's output over the last year or so, will also be screened as part of the DV Festival. Future announcements will list which films will be screened.

The UAT Digital Video Festival will be held on Thursday, November 1st from 6pm until 9pm at the University of Advancing Technology, 2625 W. Baseline Road, Tempe, Arizona 85283. The event will also be livestreamed via the Internet; details to follow.
